What Matters Most to Us

A Note from Roe

Choosing where your puppy comes from is an important decision, and not all breeders approach that responsibility the same way. For more than a decade, our focus at R&B has been simple: raising quality companion Labrador Retrievers in a family setting, with the health and well-being of our dogs always coming first.

Our dogs are members of our family and share our home. They are never treated as kennel inventory, our dams are never expected to overproduce, and every litter is thoughtfully planned around the dogs in our care. Our goal is to place healthy, well-loved Labrador puppies with families who will cherish them just as much as we do.

For us, peace of mind comes standard. Every puppy is provided with a written health guarantee and bill of sale outlining the responsibilities of both buyer and seller. We complete applicable health screening for each sire and dam as recommended by the breed's Parent Club, and if an R&B family can no longer keep their dog, we promise to take them back.

We're also here to answer questions before, during and after you welcome your puppy home. Reach out by email, text, Facebook or phone. We're always happy to talk Labradors.

Sincerely, Roe Cessna

Ethical & Humane Breeding Since 2013

We believe families should understand how their puppy is raised and how we care for our dogs. Over the last decade, R&B Labradors of Chemung has been breeding purebred Labrador Retriever puppies with the highest ethical standards and principled guidelines set forth by the American Kennel Club. The story of R&B Labradors

Our journey, from how we started to where we are now.

R&B Labradors of Chemung is a family-raised Labrador home built by Roe and Blair in Chemung, New York. Their vision for a breeding program began in 2011, and their first litter arrived in 2013. Ever since, the dogs, the families who welcome them, and the care that comes with raising a Labrador have remained at the heart of R&B.

2011
Bo with Brandi as a young puppy

Bo and Brandi

The beginnings of R&B's Labs took shape in mid-July 2011, when we brought Botar, better known as Bo, home. We had shared our lives with Labradors before him, but we were not yet set up for a serious breeding program. Bo got us thinking about future litters. When Brandi joined the family that November, the two of them laid the groundwork for what would become R&B's Labradors of Chemung.

2013
Diamond as a black Labrador puppy

A first litter, and Diamond.

Bo and Brandi's first litter arrived in March 2013 with eight puppies. One of them was Diamond, whom we originally gave to our granddaughters before she eventually returned to live with us. Diamond crossed the Rainbow Bridge at only five years old, but she remains a deeply missed part of our Lab family and every heart she touched.

2015
Duey as a chocolate Labrador puppy

The Gentle Giant arrives.

DuPont, or Duey, joined our crew in November 2015. Our Gentle Giant has always been a playful activist and instigator, loved by everyone around him and responsible for more than a few reasons to smile.

2017
Missy as a yellow Labrador puppy

Meet Missy.

March 2017 brought us Missy, our sweet yellow girl. She was born to lick, comfort, and be part of every good or bad moment in the day. There is never a dull moment with Missy in our fold.

2019
Abby as a black Labrador puppy on a snowy deck

Diamond's family continues.

In January 2019, we welcomed a descendant of our beloved Diamond and named her Abby. To us, she is remarkably similar to her grandmother and every bit as lovable.

2021
Ginger as a chocolate Labrador puppy in the grass

Ginger joins the crew.

In 2021, Ginger joined our family. Our sweet chocolate girl loves to cuddle, and she and Abby have become best buddies. She has even been known to play with Missy's puppies, happily letting them crawl all over her.

2022
Sonny as a yellow Labrador puppy on the deck

The New Sheriff in Town.

Sonny joined our family in 2022. Our devoted yellow boy loves to be near his people, greets visitors, and enjoys being outdoors in any weather.

The R&B family continues today. Meet the dogs who are part of the story now, or get in touch about future litters.
