Before you bring a puppy home

We accept cash and checks.

We accept deposits after there has been some interaction between the puppy and prospective buyer.

R&B maintains an ongoing account with the American Kennel Club (AKC). All of our adult Labradors are AKC registered, and every puppy is sold with an AKC Registration Application.

No. We do not provide a certified veterinary health certificate. However, all of our puppies receive their initial puppy vaccinations at around six weeks of age and two doses of deworming medication before their normal take-home date at around eight weeks of age.

Our puppies normally go to their new homes at around eight weeks of age. After a buyer commits to a puppy, we encourage visits during this development period, within reason. We consider this valuable bonding time for both the puppy and the new owners. These visits give your puppy an opportunity to become familiar with you before going home and can help make the transition smoother and less stressful.

No. Every buyer receives an AKC Registration Application, but whether you choose to register your puppy is entirely up to you.

We do not provide specialized show, hunting or field-trial training before our puppies go to their new homes. During their first eight weeks with us, our focus is on plenty of TLC and early socialization. Training for your puppy’s future role is then up to you.

We initially feed our puppies Purina Puppy Chow softened into a mostly liquid mixture. As they grow, we gradually reduce the amount of liquid. By around seven weeks of age, they are normally eating dry puppy chow.

Absolutely. We remain available for questions, advice and consultation after our puppies go home. Our relationship with our puppy families doesn’t end on take-home day.
